I have somewhat tamed the Visions tab with all the pictures, it is now more operational than ever before. We spent this weekend in Valdemārpils (Saßmacken) tearing down some architectural wonder from Soviet times in order to help the construction of future entertainment center.
Party games.
During my recent visit to Ireland I heard a funny quote on nationalities of fellow co-guest-workers by some Russian guy who had worked in Ireland for a couple of years after traveling there from Latvia: "Lithuanian, it's not a nationality. Lithuanian - it's a profession. And Estonian ain't a nationality, too. Estonian - it's a diagnosis." This left me wondering - what are Latvians? Fate, maybe? If that thought makes you feel sad, time to change it. Be the change you seek, as discovered by Mahatma Ghandi.
Gust is currently re-installing his PC and learning the curves of freshly upgraded dix.lv, so I'll just help a little along. He just returned from St.Petersburg, and this is what he writes: Just some people seem to have believed in the Baltic Network, however its actual representation in our minds might strongly differ. The Network, mentally created by a group of Swedish journalists-students in 2001, reached its peak in summer 2002, while having more than 30 people come toghether in almost abandoned woods nearby Stockholm. They were all young and hopeful, singing “We’ve come a lot to gain/Our course we must maintain...? It turned out for some of them the last experience of Networking.

DIX. As the days go by, it becomes closer and closer to DIY, do-it-yourself. But it's still DIX and at some point of your life you probably wondered what does DIX mean, or else you would not be here. The explanation of the acronym is pretty simple. The first two letters DI stand for Divine Intervention. The religious audience would immediately associate Divine with a god or the God. The ones of you who played way too many ancient quest games will undoubtfully connect Divine to something sacred. Those of you who studied English more carefully would know that Divine in daily conversations can be used to describe something excellent and delightful. As a verb, Divine stands for discovery with intuition or guessing, or even foreseeing. But as you know, Intervention is also a modified verb. So basically you could easily discard the verb form of Divine from the explanation of DIX. Or could you?
Another piece from archives, this time it's an e-mail to me, dated Tue, August 26, 2003 8:32:

Actually it would be interesting to hear the original song that was wildly popular in sauna singings during years 2000 to 2002, making popular the popular duo Ingo and trio RayNiz of Leecha. Anyone who has this song in his archives is welcomed to send it to me via e-mail.
